Grand Prairie, TX Goes Live with VoicePermits
PORTLAND, OR, May 3,
2004-- Selectron Technologies Inc., a provider of interactive solutions
for government agencies, today announced that the City of Grand
Prairie, TX has gone live with VoicePermits, an interactive voice
response (IVR) solution.
The City's Planning and Development
Department is utilizing the system to automate many routine processes,
including the scheduling of inspections. Users simply call
into the IVR system and are lead through a series of user-friendly
prompts. An advantage of using the IVR system is that users
can now schedule inspections up until 8:00 am the day an inspection
is needed, which allows them to be more flexible with their schedules.
VoicePermits also allows
the City's inspectors to enter inspection results from the field
using mobile telephones. Inspection results are entered directly
into the Department's land management software, without any staff
interaction. Previously, results had to be manually entered
into the system. Inspectors can also leave voice messages
for the contractor. These messages may include an explanation
of why an inspection failed, a request for the contractor reschedule
the inspection, or other important information. This message
is attached to the permit number, and is available for future reference.
Contractors may also obtain
inspection results through the IVR system. Since results
are updated in the land management software in real time, contractors
can call into the system to obtain the results as soon as they are
posted. If the inspector has left a message, it will be played
when the results are offered.
The implementation of the
VoicePermits system took less than four months, and the City is
excited to offer a new service to the community. “We are
always looking for ways to add value to our citizens' experience
with the City and improve the efficiency of our staff at the same
time, said John Lusk, Programmer Analyst for the City. “
We definitely feel VoicePermits helps us to take another
forward step in providing what we call “Raving Fans” service to
our citizens.”
